This year we are proud to offer a free day of workshops the Wednesday before the conference (February 29th) at the Phoenix Inn hotel in Bend. There will be a Git Immersion workshop by Marc Peabody from EdgeCase, and a RailsBridge run by Renée De Voursney from Code Benders.
Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks will be provided to all participants thanks to the generosity of our sponsors!.
New to Rails? The RailsBridge workshop will take you from start to deploy on a new Rails project. Basic programming skills are taught for those with no programming experience, and an overview of the Rails stack is given to everyone! RailsBridge is geared towards getting more women into the traditionally male dominated Ruby on Rails open source community. Men are welcome as participants, but only as a guest of a female participant.
If you would like to participate as a student please sign-up here: Student Registration
If you would like to volunteer as a teacher or TA please signup here: Volunteer Registration
Tuesday evening, February 28 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, there will be a RailsBridge install-fest. This will allow all the participants to meet the teachers and TAs beforehand, network with the other participants, and get their laptops ready for the next day. Coming to the install-fest is mandatory for all RailsBridge participants. If any students from the Git Immersion workshop would like to come to get help installing/updating git on their machine you are more than welcome!
The Git Immersion workshop will give those with advanced git skills some new handy tips and tricks, and for those with no experience with git a great introduction! The curriculum is based off of EdgeCase's amazingly popular Git Immersion website
The course will be offered on February 29 from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Space is limited so sign up today here:
